Time for the midmonth stat check to keep us honest! Every 15th of the month (A day early because of the short month this month) we'll post up some basic stats on the growth of the game. Right now here's what our automated test tool is telling us: Statistics: The game contains 1,242 dialogue blocks, containing 24,457 words and 137,305 characters, for an average of 19.7 words and 111 characters per block. The game contains 56 menus, 22 images, and 27 screens.

Another busy month at Modern Synthetic. This month was spent doing a lot of polish, thanks to an amazing Beta tester we had enough to go through a full polish pass. More scene transitions and art has been implemented in order to make things really feel like an interactive visual novel not a text-based interactive novel with some incidental art. The display was prettied up and we got some nice polish adjustments like displaying a day and week as opposed to a numerical day. We also cleaned up the events interface to improve its logic and provide a solid base for Another much-requested feature involved more programming than we've done so far, a character screen which will summarize your stats, what 'ware you have implanted, and your inventory. But not everything was just polish, we also finished up all the shopping, some more events, and a special segment of day burning the midnight oil for those true cyberpunks that are willing to alter their metabolism with 'war...

The first main ending, with 5 different branches, has been written. This gives a good idea of the scale we're working with here, this is just the failure ending but there are five different variations depending on your stats. It's always hard to write a good bad ending, but I think we really nailed these, they're bittersweet because, especially if you managed good stats before you flunked out, you took something away from your experiences, but the character is left wondering what the player knows: if there's another life they could have had where they went further than they did. It also shows a bit of our design philosophy, I think. It's possible for you to end up content, even a character that's happy, without succeeding all the way, just like life.

Hello everyone! After taking some much-needed holiday time for us (and a vacation to Las Vegas by the head dev) we're back and ready for action! At the moment we're waiting on playtesting feedback, and still desperately seeking playtesters willing to help with the process! Not everything has been waiting and twiddling our thumbs though, we've added the start of each romance and friendship path! The evening period of the day isn't quite playing out the way we like, so we're looking at options to rewrite it to see you spending less time at home and more time out socializing! Hello everyone! It's been a busy month here at Modern Synthetic, our initial goal of 30 days of gameplay in 30 real-time days was accomplished with two days to spare! Starting with nothing but the renpy engine and the excellent Dating Sim Engine plugin we've come so far. Last month we: Purchased placeholder art assets and put in all the basic backgrounds. Rewrote the DSE to remove all the tutorial code, implemented custom stats, actions and all tweaked the graphics to fit the more than doubled size of the stats list. Implemented custom events, with many outcomes for every default event that have different effects on stat gains and unique text. There are a total of 24 basic events for classes, 12 social period events, and 12 evening events. the 12 evening events have branching depending on your stats for exponentially more variety.
